Dr. Ellen Huse

Veterinarian

Dr. Ellen Huse is originally from Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Indiana University summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in English. After backpacking around Europe for a summer, she headed to Big Ten rival Purdue University and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. While in vet school she spent a summer with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game studying the chronic effects of the Exxon Valdez oil spill on wildlife. (She still won’t buy gas at Exxon). Dr. Ellen then headed south and worked in small animal clinics in Rock Hill, Charlotte, and West Columbia before moving to Ridgeway and joining the Pet Friends Veterinary Clinic team in 2025.

Dr. Ellen and her husband Roger have a daughter (Lauren) and son (Jason), a yellow lab (Crash), a chihuahua mix (Socks), and an orange tabby cat (Cheezit). She enjoys playing and watching sports (especially Gamecock football and basketball), participating in Functional Fitness classes outdoors at the YMCA, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family and pets.

She is Low Stress Handling certified and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), South Carolina Association of Veterinarians (SCAV), the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV), and the Alliance of Force Free Animal Professionals. She also enjoys volunteering her time with The Street Dog Coalition.
